"We already know a lot about climate change and issues that impact us everyday but you don't see much change in practice. At least, that is what I thought during my studies. But when I started my internship at Royal Reesink, I was delighted to see that the Royal Reesink group of companies are genuinely concerned about a healthier cleaner climate. They are working in various ways to reduce CO2 emissions and not just due to legislation requiring it, but also from a green heart.

I'm working on the initiatives that are already in place, and I'm also looking for opportunities. For my graduation project, I looked at the waste flows from various workplaces, and it turned out that oil, water and sludge mixtures cause the greatest CO2 pollution. I have written a plan to make this even more environmentally friendly.

I also collect data for analysis and draw conclusions about the use of LED lighting, movement sensors and solar energy, among other things. I sit around the table with colleagues from the leasing company and help them think about energy consumption and the applicability of charging stations now and in the future. In short, it's very diverse and relevant to many of the Royal Reesink companies. I was also able to visit many subsidiaries.

It was really nice to be able to brush up on my Dutch (I am half German, half Dutch) and to make a good comparison between the Dutch and German work cultures. I was warmly welcomed everywhere, they really listened to me and I was monitored by my internship supervisor."
